You know those days...weeks...after giving birth when the world within your home slows to the pace of molasses? If you weren't prepared for it, you tend to struggle against it, wrestling to stay on top of what once felt so simple: brushing teeth, laundry, feeding people. Hopefully you were prepared, though, and you were able to relish the season where feeding and clothing and cuddling baby take pretty much all day. This family was definitely prepared. And though these days are no doubt tiring and hazy (which is why I believe it is so important to document them), they have slowed down enough to savor it all. Soon enough everything will be back to "normal." But then so too will these opportunities to embrace the pace of molasses.
I was incredibly blessed to be at this wee one's rainy Sunday morning birth, and to see him three weeks older was a joy. Mom and Dad, you have a handsome wide-eyed little man who clearly is receiving ample adoration!
